The Not-so-full-but-interesting Story

About Ford

A long, long time ago, as a little boy. I spent much time in my room with my small record player, or in front of the TV in the family room, listening and dreaming.  Most of the memories I have are the first song I ever heard on the radio ("Main Street" by Bob Seger) and being introduced to jazz music via "A Charlie Brown Christmas". I was also mesmerized by the electronic sounds on TV programs such as "In Search Of", "The Rockford Files", and "Tic Tac Dough".

Thus began my love of and fascination with music & synthesizers.

Later on ...

As a student in middle & high school, I joined band as a saxophone player, and as I progressed, my band teachers gave me jobs of transcribing parts for saxophone, and even an arrangment of Happy Birthday for band.  I wonder if it still exists ...

I also studied music on my own, learned a lot, and started writing my own compositions.

As a young man studying Electrical Engineering at the University of Michigan in the early-mid 1990's, I also took some classes in music theory, composition, and sound synthesis at the U of M School of Music. On my own, I started learning about lyric writing and had some Berklee workbooks that I did a lot of work in. As I settled into a day job, my music output became less and less, and somehow I forgot music, my first love. I stopped doing it for a long time. Then in Sept 2023, I started back on my musical journey and putting a lot of energy into learning songwriting, while also working on some earlier compositions of mine.

I also discovered the vocalist in me.

I started taking lessons from an awesome vocal coach who I am very grateful for!

Now ...

I am a songwriter, composer, saxophonist, vocalist, and keyboardist. I have written at least 20 songs to date (I really haven't been keeping track lol).  I will be releasing my EP on Jan 17th, 2025, and will be working on a full album (release date TBD, hoping to get it out sometime later this year!)

This has been one exciting journey so far and I expect even better things for the future.  Until next time ...
